Description: These delicious Finnish doughnuts are soft, sweet, and perfect for any occasion. Preparation Time: 2 hours (includes rising time)
Serving Size: 12 doughnuts
Ingredients:
- 2.5 dl milk or water
- 1 tbsp yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 1 dl sugar
- 1 tbsp cardamom
- 6 dl all-purpose flour
- 1 dl melted butter
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
1. Dissolve the yeast in warm milk or water.
2. Add salt, egg, sugar, and cardamom. Mix well.
3. Gradually add the flour and knead the dough until it is elastic.
4. Incorporate the melted butter and knead again until the dough is smooth.
5. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
6. Roll out the dough to about 1 cm thick and cut out round pieces.
7. Allow the doughnuts to rise for another 30 minutes.
8. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the doughnuts until golden brown on both sides.
9. Remove the doughnuts and place them on paper towels to cool slightly.
10. Optionally, roll the doughnuts in sugar before serving.
