Munkit (Finnish Donuts)

A delicious treat, these fluffy donuts are perfect for any occasion. Preparation Time: 2 hours (including rising time)
Serving Size: 12 donuts
Ingredients:
- 5 dl milk
- 50 g yeast
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 dl sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp cardamom
- 100 g butter, melted
- Approximately 1 liter all-purpose flour
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
1. Warm the milk until lukewarm and dissolve the yeast in it.
2. Add the eggs, sugar, salt, and cardamom. Mix well.
3. Stir in the melted butter until combined.
4. Gradually add flour until the dough is soft and no longer sticky.
5. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
6. Roll out the dough to about 1 cm thick and cut out round pieces.
7. Let the dough pieces rise for another 30 minutes.
8. Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the donuts until golden brown on both sides.
9. Drain the donuts on paper towels and sprinkle with sugar if desired.
10. Serve warm.
