Traditional Christmas gingerbread cookies that delight with their spicy flavor. Easy to make and perfect for holiday snacking. Preparation Time: 1 hour
Serving Size: About 30 cookies
Ingredients
- 1 tsp orange peel - 0.5 tsp cloves
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1.5 dl all-purpose flour
- 1 dl syrup
- 1 egg
- 1.5 dl sugar
- 1 tsp ginger
- Powdered sugar for decoration
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 125 g margarine or butter
- Water or lemon juice
Instructions
1. In a large saucepan, boil the sugar, syrup, margarine (or butter), and spices together. 2. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.
3. Add the cooled mixture to the egg and the flour that has been mixed with baking soda.
4. Knead the dough until smooth and let it rest in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
5. Roll out the dough into a thin sheet and cut out desired shapes for the cookies.
6. Bake the cookies at 175°C (350°F) for about 8-10 minutes.
7. Let the cookies cool and decorate with powdered sugar.
