Traditional and spiced gingerbread cookies that bring the Christmas spirit home. Preparation time: about 1 hour, serving size: approximately 30 cookies.
Ingredients:
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 8 dl all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp ginger
- 1 ml salt
- 250 g butter
- 1½ dl syrup
- 2 tsp cloves
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 2 dl sugar
- 2 tsp orange zest
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt together.
2. In a saucepan, combine the butter, syrup, sugar, and spices. Heat the mixture over low heat while stirring until the butter melts and the ingredients are well combined.
3. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
4. Add the eggs to the cooled mixture and mix well.
5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the dough and knead until smooth.
6. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
7. Roll out the dough into a thin sheet and cut out cookies in your desired shapes.
8. Bake the cookies at 175 °C (350 °F) for about 8-10 minutes or until they are golden brown.
9. Allow to cool before decorating.
