Delicious gingerbread cookies are the perfect addition to Christmas celebrations, bringing warmth to winter evenings. Preparation time is about 1 hour. Serves: 20 cookies.

Ingredients:

- 1.5 dl syrup
- 2 dl sugar
- 250 g butter
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp ginger
- 1 tbsp orange peel
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1.5 dl all-purpose flour (wheat flour)

Instructions:

1. Melt the butter in a saucepan and add the syrup and sugar. Heat the mixture over low heat until the sugar dissolves.
2. Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the spices (cinnamon, ginger, orange peel), baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
3. Gradually add the flour to the dough and stir until the mixture is smooth.
4. Allow the dough to cool in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
5. Roll out the dough to about 0.5 cm thick. Cut out cookie shapes as desired.
6. Bake the cookies at 175°C (350°F) for about 8-10 minutes or until they are golden brown.
7. Let cool before decorating.
