Ingredients:
- 400 g pasta (e.g., spaghetti or penne)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 teaspoon chili powder (optional)
- 400 g canned crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 50 g Parmesan cheese, grated
Instructions:
1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and reserve a little cooking water.
2. Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the crushed garlic and chili powder, sauté for a few minutes until the garlic is golden brown.
3. Add the crushed tomatoes, sugar, salt, and black pepper to the pan. Let the sauce simmer over low heat for about 10 minutes.
4. Toss the cooked pasta into the sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add a bit of reserved cooking water.
5. Stir in the chopped basil and mix well. Serve immediately with grated Parmesan cheese on top.
