A hearty Finnish meat stew with tender beef and root vegetables.
Preparation Time: 3 hours
Serving Size: 4-6 servings
Ingredients:
- 1 kg beef stew meat
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 2 onions, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 4 dl beef broth
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 carrots, peeled and chopped
- 3 potatoes, peeled and chopped
Instructions:
1. Heat the oil in a large pot and brown the beef stew meat on all sides.
2. Add the chopped onions and minced garlic, sautéing for a few minutes until softened.
3. Pour in the beef broth and add the bay leaves, salt, and black pepper.
4. Peel and chop the carrots and potatoes, then add them to the pot.
5. Cover and simmer on low heat for about 2-3 hours, until the meat is tender.
6. Serve with boiled potatoes or mashed potatoes along with peas.
