A delightful treat where chilled milk pudding is fried to a crispy finish. Serve it with fruit compote!
Preparation Time: 10 minutes + 4-6 hours chilling time
Serving Size: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 1 liter milk
- 100 g sugar
- 100 g cornstarch
- 1 vanilla bean (or 1 tsp vanilla extract)
- 1 egg
- 100 g breadcrumbs
- 50 g butter (for frying)
- Fruits (e.g., apples, berries) for compote
Instructions:
1. Heat the milk in a saucepan. Add sugar and the split vanilla bean. Allow it to simmer gently.
2. Mix cornstarch with a small amount of cold milk until fully dissolved. Gradually add this mixture to the heating milk while stirring continuously.
3. Once the mixture thickens, pour it into a serving dish and let it cool. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4-6 hours.
4. Cut the set milk pudding into cubes.
5. In a bowl, crack the egg and whisk lightly. Dip the milk cubes first in the egg and then in the breadcrumbs.
6. Heat the butter in a frying pan. Fry the milk cubes until golden brown on both sides.
7. Serve warm with fruit compote.
