A delicious Spanish dessert that captivates with its beautiful appearance and sweet flavor. This easily prepared treat is often served with fresh berries. Preparation Time: 1 hour
Serving Size: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 1.25 dl sugar
- Approximately 0.2 dl water
- Butter for greasing
- 2 whole eggs
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 dl sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar
- 4 dl milk
Instructions:
1. Grease oven-safe bowls with butter.
2. Prepare the caramel by combining sugar and water in a saucepan. Heat the mixture until the sugar caramelizes and turns a beautiful color. Quickly pour the caramel into the greased bowls.
3. In a bowl, whisk together the whole eggs, egg yolks, and sugar until well combined. Add the milk and mix briefly.
4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the caramel in the bowls.
5. Place the bowls in a deep baking dish and add water until the bowls are well submerged.
6. Bake in the middle of the oven at 175°C (350°F) for about 40-45 minutes, or until the custard is set.
7. Carefully remove the baking dish from the oven (caution, the water is hot!) and let the bowls cool.
8. Invert the bowls onto plates or serve directly from the bowls. Garnish with fresh berries before serving.
