Ingredients:
- 200g sugar (for caramel)
- 100ml water
- 400ml milk
- 3 eggs
- 100g sugar (additional)
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar
- A pinch of salt
Instructions:
1. Prepare the caramel: In a saucepan, combine 200g of sugar and 100ml of water. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture begins to boil. Allow it to boil until it turns golden brown.
2. Quickly pour the caramel into small ramekins or one large baking dish, ensuring the bottom is fully coated. Let it cool.
3. Heat the milk in a saucepan until it's almost boiling.
4. Meanwhile, in a bowl, whisk together the eggs, 100g of sugar, vanilla sugar, and a pinch of salt.
5. Gradually pour the hot milk into the egg mixture while continuously stirring.
6. Strain the mixture into the ramekins over the caramel layer.
7. Bake in a water bath at 160°C (320°F) for about 40-50 minutes, until the surface is set.
8. Let it cool at room temperature, then transfer to the refrigerator for at least four hours or overnight.
9. To serve, carefully invert the crème caramel onto a serving plate.
