A classic French dessert that is a perfect treat for special occasions. This creamy and sweet dessert has a crunchy top and a soft inside. Preparation Time: 1 hour + chilling
Serving Size: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 200 ml cream
- 100 ml milk
- 4 egg yolks
- 100 g sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar
- 2 tbsp sugar for topping
Instructions:
1. Heat the cream and milk in a saucepan until it's nearly boiling.
2. In a bowl, whisk the egg yolks, sugar, and vanilla sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Gradually pour the hot cream mixture into the egg yolk mixture while continuously stirring.
4. Strain the mixture and divide it into four oven-safe ramekins.
5. Place the ramekins on a baking tray and pour hot water into the tray until it reaches halfway up the sides of the ramekins.
6. Bake in a preheated oven at 150°C (300°F) for about 30-40 minutes, until set.
7. Allow to cool at room temperature, then transfer to the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
8. Before serving, sprinkle sugar on top and caramelize it using a kitchen torch or under a broiler in the oven.
