Delicious and easy slice cookies made from basic ingredients, perfect for enjoying with coffee or glögg on Independence Day.
Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Serving Size: 20-24 pieces

Ingredients:

- 200 g butter
- 2 dl sugar (half brown sugar)
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 tbsp dark syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (or vanilla sugar)
- 5 dl all-purpose flour
- Fudge chunks (e.g., Dr. Oetker)
- Any jam that can withstand baking
- Nut spread (e.g., crunchy peanut butter), sweetened with sugar (1 tbsp soft butter)

Instructions:

1. In a bowl, beat the soft butter and sugar until fluffy.
2. Combine the dry ingredients (flour and baking powder) and add to the butter mixture.
3. Stir in the dark syrup and vanilla extract until you have a smooth dough.
4. Roll the dough into four long logs and flatten them slightly with your fingers.
5. Brush the logs with egg and pipe some jam or marmalade on top, along with any desired toppings.
6. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
7. Cut into pieces after removing from the oven and serve.
