Delicious filled buns perfect for Shrove Tuesday treats. Preparation Time: 2 hours
Serving Size: 12 buns
Ingredients:
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 100 g sugar
- 25 g fresh yeast
- 200 ml milk
- 100 g butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 200 g strawberry jam (or any jam of your choice)
- 300 ml whipped cream (whipped)
- Powdered sugar (for decoration)
Instructions:
1. Warm the milk until lukewarm and dissolve the fresh yeast in it.
2. In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, salt, and cardamom.
3. Add the yeast milk, melted butter, and eggs to the flour mixture. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic.
4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and divide it into 12 pieces. Shape each piece into a bun.
6. Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
7. Bake the buns in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for about 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
8. Allow the buns to cool.
9. Cut the tops off the buns and fill them with jam and whipped cream.
10. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
