Savory Ham and Pepper Pie

A delicious and hearty smoked ham and pepper pie, perfect for lunch or a light dinner. Preparation Time: 1 hour
Serving Size: 8 servings
Ingredients
- 3-4 eggs - 1 large red bell pepper (optional onion)
- 200 g strong Emmental cheese
- 300 g smoked ham, diced
- 150 g margarine
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- 1.5 dl light cooking cream
- 3 dl all-purpose flour
- 5 black peppercorns (crushed)
- 1.5 dl sour cream
Instructions
1. In a bowl, crumble the softened margarine with the all-purpose flour. 2. Add water and mix until a smooth dough forms.
3. Press the dough into the bottom and sides of a pie dish.
4. Pre-bake the crust in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) for about 10 minutes.
5. Peel and chop the bell pepper (and onion, if using) into small pieces.
6. Grate the Emmental cheese and mix it with the smoked ham, paprika powder, and crushed black peppercorns.
7. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, cooking cream, and sour cream. Stir in the ham and pepper mixture.
8. Pour the filling over the pre-baked crust.
9. Bake the pie at 200°C (390°F) for about 30-35 minutes, or until the filling is golden and set.
