Serving size: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Marsala wine
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
Instructions:
1. Heat the olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
2. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté for about 5 minutes until they are soft and golden.
3. Pour in the Marsala wine and cook until it has reduced by about half.
4. Add the beef broth and thyme, and let the sauce simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes until it thickens slightly.
5. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix the cornstarch with a small amount of water and add it to the sauce.
6. Remove the sauce from heat and stir in the remaining butter.
7. Serve the sauce over a hot steak.
