A traditional Finnish dish combining liver, rice, and spices into a delicious baked meal. This dish is nutritious and filling.
Preparation Time: 1 hour
Serving Size: 4-6 servings

Ingredients:

- 400 g ground pork or beef liver
- 2.5 dl barley or rice grains
- 2 dl raisins
- 1 finely chopped onion
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp marjoram
- ½ tsp white pepper
- 4 tbsp syrup
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1.25 liters milk or milk beverage
- 2.5 dl water

Instructions:

1. Rinse the rice or barley thoroughly under cold water.
2. Cook the rice or barley in a pot with 2.5 dl of water until soft.
3. Sauté the chopped onion in butter in a pan until soft.
4. In a large bowl, combine the cooked rice, raisins, sautéed onion, and ground liver.
5. Add the egg, salt, marjoram, white pepper, and syrup. Mix well.
6. Pour the milk or milk beverage into the mixture and stir until smooth.
7. Transfer the batter to a greased baking dish.
8. Bake in a preheated oven at 175°C for about 50-60 minutes, until the top is beautifully golden brown.
