A comforting Finnish macaroni casserole with beef and carrots. Preparation Time: 45 minutes
Serving Size: 6 servings
Ingredients:
- 1 package of oat macaroni (500 g)
- 500 g ground beef
- 1 onion
- 1 clove garlic
- 4 dl grated carrots
- 5 dl beef broth
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Grated cheese (optional, for topping)
Instructions:
1. Cook the oat macaroni according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
2. Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic. Heat the oil in a large skillet and sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and brown it.
4. Stir in the grated carrots and mix well. Cook for a few minutes.
5. Pour the beef broth into the mixture and season with salt and pepper. Let it simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes.
6. Mix the cooked oat macaroni into the meat mixture.
7. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and sprinkle grated cheese on top if desired.
8. Bake in the oven at 200°C (392°F) for about 20-25 minutes, or until the top is a beautiful golden brown.
9. Allow to cool for a moment before serving. Enjoy!
