A classic American comfort food that combines macaroni and cheese in a delicious way. This recipe is easy to prepare and is perfect for a weeknight dinner. Preparation Time: 40 minutes
Serving Size: 4-6
Ingredients:
- ½ kg macaroni- 1 liter broth (game or beef)
- ½ kg shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar)
- 6 dl cream or milk
- 1 egg
- 4 tablespoons butter
- ½ dl all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
1. Cook the macaroni in the broth until nearly al dente, drain, and set aside.2. Melt the butter in a pot, add the flour, and stir continuously. Cook over low heat for a few minutes.
3. Gradually add the cream or milk while stirring. Season with mustard.
4. Crack the egg into a bowl and whisk until smooth. Take a cup of the sauce and mix it with the egg while stirring.
5. Pour the egg-flour mixture back into the pot and stir well.
6. Add the shredded cheese and stir until melted. Season with salt and black pepper.
7. Combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce and pour the mixture into a baking dish.
8. Sprinkle additional cheese on top and bake in the oven at 200 degrees Celsius for about 20 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
9. Serve warm, perhaps alongside slices of bacon or game sausage.
