A delicious, creamy frozen dessert inspired by traditional Finnish mämmi, perfect for a sweet treat. Preparation Time: 30 minutes (plus freezing time)
Serving Size: 6 servings
Ingredients:
- 125 g Mascarpone
- 200 g sweetened condensed milk
- 100 g mämmi (Finnish rye pudding)
- 3.3 dl heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp grated orange zest
- Juice of 1 orange
- 2 tbsp cane sugar
- Grated lime zest (for garnish)
- Grated dark chocolate (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. In a mixing bowl, combine Mascarpone, sweetened condensed milk, and mämmi until smooth.
2. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then gently fold in the grated orange zest.
3. Carefully mix the whipped cream into the mascarpone-mämmi mixture until well combined.
4. Divide the mixture evenly into silicone muffin molds and freeze for about 24 hours.
5. In a saucepan, combine the orange juice and cane sugar. Cook over medium heat until the mixture reduces by half and becomes syrupy. Allow to cool to room temperature.
6. Once frozen, remove the semifreddo from the molds and place on serving plates.
7. Let sit for about 10 minutes before serving.
8. Drizzle the orange syrup over the semifreddo and garnish with grated lime zest and dark chocolate.
