Ingredients:
- 800 g potatoes
- 300 ml cream
- 200 ml milk
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 100 g cheese (e.g., Emmental or Parmesan), grated
- Butter for greasing the baking dish
Instructions:
1. Peel and slice the potatoes into thin rounds.
2. Peel and crush the garlic cloves.
3. Grease a baking dish with butter and layer the potato slices, crushed garlic, and spices.
4. In a bowl, mix the cream and milk together. Pour the mixture over the layered potatoes.
5. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top.
6. Cover the dish with foil and bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 45 minutes.
7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is beautifully golden brown.
8. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
