Ingredients:
- 1 head of cabbage
- 1 generous drizzle of syrup
- 10 allspice berries
- 2 bay leaves
- 3 carrots, chopped
- 2 teaspoons salt
- Pan drippings
- 2 onions, chopped
- Approximately 1 kg bone-in or boneless lamb, cut into pieces
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 teaspoons rosemary
- 1 vegetable stock cube
Instructions:
1. Cut the lamb into bite-sized pieces, about 3x3 cm.
2. Brown the lamb pieces in butter in a hot pan.
3. Add the chopped onions and carrots to the pan and sauté for a few minutes.
4. Stir in the cabbage, syrup, allspice berries, bay leaves, salt, rosemary, and vegetable stock cube.
5. Pour the pan drippings over the mixture and mix well.
6. Allow the stew to simmer on low heat until the meat is tender and the flavors meld together.
7. Serve warm, ideally with potatoes or bread.
