A delicious and hearty lasagna that brings back childhood flavors. Perfect for family dinners or gatherings with friends. Preparation time: 1 hour 30 minutes
Serving size: 6-8 servings
Ingredients:
- 12 lasagna sheets - 500 g minced meat (beef or pork-beef mix)
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 400 g crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 250 g ricotta cheese
- 200 g mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 100 g grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
1. Heat the olive oil in a large pan. Add the chopped onion and crushed garlic, sautéing until soft. 2. Add the minced meat to the pan and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Let simmer on low heat for about 15 minutes.
4. To assemble the lasagna, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in a baking dish. Place lasagna sheets on top.
5. Add a layer of ricotta cheese and sliced mozzarella. Continue layering with meat sauce, lasagna sheets, and cheeses.
6. Finish with a layer of meat sauce and sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top.
7. Cover the dish with foil and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden brown.
8. Allow the lasagna to rest before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
