A traditional Finnish rutabaga casserole that's creamy, spiced, and perfect for holiday meals.

Serving Size: 4-6 servings
Ingredients:
- 1 rutabaga (lanttu)
- 1 egg
- Breadcrumbs (korppujauhoja)
- 1 tsp black pepper (mustapippuri)
- 1 tbsp syrup (siirappi)
- 1 tsp nutmeg (muskottipähkinää)
- A knob of butter (nokare voita)
- ½ tsp ginger (inkivääri)
- 2 tsp salt (suolaa)
- 1 dl cream (kermaa)
Instructions:
1. Peel and dice the rutabaga into small cubes.
2. Boil the rutabaga in a small amount of water until tender.
3. Once cooked, drain the water and add a knob of butter to the rutabaga.
4. Mash the rutabaga and mix in salt, black pepper, ginger, and nutmeg.
5. Stir in the syrup, egg, and cream until well combined.
6. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and sprinkle breadcrumbs on top.
7. Bake in a preheated oven at 175°C (350°F) for about 45-60 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
8. Serve warm.
