A delicious rutabaga and parsnip casserole that offers a milder flavor than traditional rutabaga casserole. Perfect for festive gatherings and holiday tables. Preparation Time: 2 hours
Serving Size: 6-8 servings
Ingredients:
- 500 g rutabaga puree- 200 g parsnips
- 2 dl cooking liquid
- 3/4 dl breadcrumbs
- 1 dl sour cream
- 3 tbsp syrup
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp white pepper
- 1/2 tsp garam masala (optional)
- Butter for greasing the baking dish
Instructions:
1. Boil the parsnips in salted water until tender.2. Mash the cooked parsnips together with the rutabaga puree. If needed, thin the mixture with some of the cooking liquid.
3. Mix the breadcrumbs, sour cream, syrup, eggs, salt, white pepper, and garam masala (if using) into the puree.
4. Grease a baking dish with butter and pour the vegetable mixture into it.
5. Create patterns on the surface and sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Dot with butter.
6. Bake in a preheated oven at 175°C (350°F) for about 1.5 hours, until the top is beautifully browned and the casserole is cooked through.
