Ingredients:
- 1.5 cups long-grain rice
- 4-5 cups water
- 1 small onion
- Salt to taste
- ½ teaspoon saffron
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
Instructions:
1. Rinse the rice in cold water until the water runs clear.
2. Peel and finely chop the onion.
3. Heat a little oil in a pot and add the chopped onion. Sauté the onion until it becomes soft.
4. Add the rice to the onion and sauté for a moment until the rice is slightly translucent.
5. Pour in the water, add salt, saffron, and turmeric. Stir well.
6. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and cover the pot. Let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.
7. Remove the pot from the heat and let the rice sit covered for a few minutes before serving.
8. Fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving.
