Garlic herring is a delicious and easy addition to your summer table. These herrings will keep for a week in the refrigerator, and their flavor only improves over time. Preparation Time: 15 minutes + soaking time
Serving Size: About 4-6 servings
Ingredients:
- ½-1 dl chopped chives - 600-700 g herring fillets
- ¼ dl oil
- 2 tsp salt
- About 7 cloves (30 g) garlic
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2½ dl water
- 2 tbsp vinegar
Instructions:
1. If desired, remove the skin from the herring fillets. 2. In a bowl, mix together the soaking brine ingredients: water, vinegar, oil, salt, and sugar.
3. Place the herring fillets in the brine, ensuring they are fully submerged.
4. Soak the herring in the refrigerator overnight until they are completely pale.
5. Prepare the marinade: finely chop the garlic and mix it with the other ingredients.
6. Pour the marinade over the herring fillets and mix well.
7. Let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least a few hours before serving.
