A traditional Finnish meat stew made with beef, pork, and vegetables, perfect for a comforting family meal.
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 2-3 hours
Serving Size: 4-6 servings
Ingredients:
- 500 g beef chuck (bone-in) or beef roast
- 500 g pork shoulder (bone-in) or pork roast
- 200 g pork belly
- 2 onions
- 3-4 carrots
- 4-5 dl water
- 2-3 tsp salt
- 1-2 tsp black pepper
- 2-3 bay leaves
- 1 tsp dried thyme (optional)
Instructions:
1. Cut the meats into large cubes and lightly brown them in a pan.
2. Peel and slice the onions, and peel and chop the carrots.
3. Place the browned meats, onions, and carrots in a baking dish.
4. Add water, salt, black pepper, bay leaves, and thyme.
5. Cover the dish with a lid or aluminum foil.
6. Bake in an oven preheated to 150-175°C (300-350°F) for about 2-3 hours, until the meat is tender.
7. Serve with potatoes or mashed potatoes.
