This hearty Cabbage Casserole combines tender cabbage, savory meat, and fluffy rice for a comforting dish perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients:
- 2 small cabbages
- 400 g pork-beef ground meat
- 1 large onion
- About 4 dl pre-cooked rice
- About 1/2 dl syrup
- About 5 dl water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Butter or oil for frying
Instructions:
1. Finely chop the onion and sauté it in butter or oil in a pan until softened.
2. Add the ground pork-beef mix to the pan and cook until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
3. Boil the cabbages in salted water for about 5-10 minutes until slightly softened. Drain and let cool.
4. Chop the cabbages into small pieces and mix them in a bowl with the cooked meat and rice.
5. Add syrup to the mixture and stir well.
6. Pour the mixture into a baking dish and level the surface.
7. Add a little water to the dish if needed to keep the casserole moist.
8. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 30-40 minutes until the top is golden brown.
9. Allow to rest for a few minutes before serving.
