This traditional Finnish dish combines ground beef, cabbage, and rice for a hearty and comforting meal.
Ingredients:
- 1 large head of cabbage (chopped)
- 700 g ground beef
- 3-4 carrots (sliced)
- 2 dl regular rice (washed)
- 2 onions (chopped)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 dl vegetable broth or water
- 1 tbsp oil
Instructions:
1. Heat the oil in a large skillet and add the chopped onions. Sauté the onions until they are soft.
2. Add the ground beef and brown it until fully cooked.
3. Stir in the chopped cabbage and sliced carrots, mixing everything well.
4. Add the washed rice, salt, black pepper, and oregano. Combine the ingredients thoroughly.
5. Pour the vegetable broth or water over the mixture and stir again.
6. Cover the skillet with a lid and let it simmer on low heat for about 30-40 minutes, until the rice and vegetables are tender.
7. Serve warm, ideally with a side salad.
