Joulutortut (Finnish Christmas Pastries)

Traditional Christmas pastries filled with delicious jam and beautifully shaped. Preparation time: about 2 hours (including cooling times).
Serving size: 12 pastries.
Ingredients:
- 3 dl all-purpose flour- 1 dl cold water
- 165 g butter
- Plum jam (or any other jam)
Instructions:
1. Mix the all-purpose flour with cold water and knead the dough until smooth.2. Weigh the dough and match the weight with butter. Incorporate the butter into the dough.
3. Let the dough rest in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
4. Roll the dough into a square and place the butter in the center.
5. Fold the edges of the dough up to meet in the center. Chill for 10-15 minutes.
6. Roll the dough out again into a square, about half a centimeter thick, and fold the edges to the center again. Repeat this process 5-6 times.
7. Finally, roll the dough into a half-centimeter thick square and cut it into squares.
8. Make cuts from each corner of the square towards the center, leaving the middle untouched.
9. Place a spoonful of plum jam in the center and fold the points over the jam.
10. Brush the pastries with beaten egg and bake in a preheated oven at 225°C (437°F) for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.
11. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
