Ingredients:
- 3 egg whites
- 200 g sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- Colorful nonpareils or sprinkles for decoration
- Edible decorations (e.g., chocolate candies)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 100°C (212°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a bowl, whisk the egg whites until they start to foam. Add lemon juice and continue whisking.
3. Gradually add the sugar while continuing to whisk until the mixture is glossy and forms stiff peaks.
4. Gently fold in the vanilla extract.
5. Transfer the meringue mixture to a piping bag. Pipe tree-shaped layers onto the parchment paper.
6. Bake the meringue trees in the oven for about 2 hours or until they are dry and easily lift off the parchment paper.
7. Allow to cool completely before decorating.
8. Decorate the tree with nonpareils and other edible decorations.
