A delicious, moist Christmas bread filled with festive flavors. This easy recipe is perfect for your holiday table. Preparation Time: 1 hour (plus rising time)
Serving Size: 1 loaf
Ingredients:
- 500 g rye flour - 250 g wheat flour
- 1.5 dl syrup
- 3 dl water
- 25 g fresh yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1 tsp cloves
- 1 dl nuts (e.g., walnuts)
- 1 dl dried fruits (e.g., raisins or apricots)
Instructions:
1. Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm water. 2. Add syrup, salt, and spices to the water.
3. Mix rye and wheat flour in a bowl.
4. Pour the liquid mixture into the flour and knead the dough until smooth.
5. Incorporate the nuts and dried fruits into the dough and knead for a little longer.
6. Let the dough rise under a cloth for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
7. Shape the dough into a loaf and transfer it to a baking pan lined with parchment paper.
8. Allow it to rise for another 30 minutes.
9. Bake in a preheated oven at 175°C (350°F) for about 40-50 minutes, until the bread is cooked through and golden brown.
10. Let it cool before serving.
