A delicious and easy alternative to traditional Christmas baking, perfect for the holiday season. These twisted buns make a wonderful gift for festive gatherings.
Preparation Time: 1 hour (excluding rising time)
Serving Size: 12 buns

Ingredients:

- 2 dl milk
- 25 g yeast
- 1 dl sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 1 egg
- 100 g melted butter
- 6-7 dl all-purpose flour
- 1 dl festive spices (e.g., cinnamon and ginger)
- 1 egg for glazing

Instructions:

1. Heat the milk until lukewarm and dissolve the yeast in it.
2. Add sugar, salt, cardamom, and the egg to the milk mixture. Mix well.
3. Stir in the melted butter and combine.
4. Gradually add all-purpose flour and knead the dough until smooth and elastic. Let it rise under a cloth for about 30-40 minutes.
5. Roll out the risen dough into a flat sheet and sprinkle festive spices on top.
6. Roll the dough sheet into a log and cut into slices about 3-4 cm thick.
7. Place the slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rise for another 20 minutes.
8. Brush the buns with beaten egg and bake at 200°C (392°F) for about 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
9. Allow to cool before serving.
