A delightful recipe for traditional Russian dumplings made from scratch, perfect for celebrations or as a comforting meal. Preparation Time: 2 hours
Serving Size: 4-6 servings
Ingredients:
- Dough: - 400 g all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 100 ml water
- 1 tsp salt
- Filling:
- 300 g ground meat (beef or a mix of pork and beef)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- For boiling:
- Salt
Instructions:
1. Prepare the dough: In a bowl, mix the flour and salt. Add the egg and water. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth. Cover with a cloth and let it rest for about 30 minutes. 2. Prepare the filling: In a bowl, combine the ground meat, chopped onion, crushed garlic, salt, black pepper, and parsley. Mix well.
3. Roll out the dough into a thin sheet and cut out round pieces (about 7-9 cm in diameter).
4. Place about 1 tablespoon of filling in the center of each dough circle. Moisten the edges with water and fold the dough into a crescent shape. Pinch the edges tightly to seal.
5. Boil the pelmeni in salted water until they float to the surface (about 5-7 minutes). Use a slotted spoon to remove them and let them drain.
6. Serve hot with sour cream or butter.
