A delicious and filling Finnish dish, perfect for festive occasions. Easy to make with just a few ingredients.
Preparation Time: 4-5 hours (including fermentation)
Serving Size: 6-8 servings
Ingredients:
- 50 g butter
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2.5 kg starchy potatoes
- 4-5 dl cream (lactose-free)
- Approximately 3-4 teaspoons salt
- 0.75-1 dl all-purpose flour
Instructions:
1. Peel and chop the potatoes.
2. Boil the potatoes until tender.
3. Mash the boiled potatoes until smooth.
4. Add butter to the potato mash and sprinkle the flour over the slightly cooled mixture. Mix well.
5. Allow the mixture to ferment under plastic wrap or a lid for 3-4 hours or overnight.
6. Stir the mixture a few times during the fermentation period.
7. Add cream and salt, and mix thoroughly.
8. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and bake at 175-200°C (350-400°F) for about 1-1.5 hours, until the top is beautifully golden brown.
