A delicious pickled herring dish served with a flavorful herb sauce.
Preparation Time: 25 minutes (plus 24 hours marinating)
Serving Size: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- Pickling Brine
- 1 liter water
- 200 ml white vinegar
- 2 tablespoons fine sea salt
- Herring fillets
- Herb Sauce
- Turkish yogurt (or mayonnaise)
- Mixed dried herbs (e.g., herb blend)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the pickling brine by mixing the water, white vinegar, and sea salt in a saucepan. Heat the mixture until it boils, then let it cool.
2. Place the herring fillets in a jar or container and pour the cooled pickling brine over them. Allow to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours.
3. Make the herb sauce by combining Turkish yogurt (or mayonnaise) with the mixed dried herbs.
4. Serve the marinated herring fillets with the herb sauce on the side.
