This delicious yeast bread features beautiful patterns from the proofing basket, making it a perfect addition to any meal.
Preparation Time: 2 hours (includes rising)
Serving Size: 1 loaf
Ingredients:
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (7 g) active dry yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 300 ml warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, yeast, salt, and sugar together.
2. Add the warm water and olive oil, and stir until the dough comes together.
3. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
4. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and shape it into your desired loaf shape.
6. Place the loaf in a proofing basket and cover it with a cloth. Let it rise for another 30 minutes.
7. Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F).
8. Carefully turn the loaf onto a baking sheet and make beautiful slashes on the surface with a knife.
9. Bake the bread in the oven for about 25-30 minutes, until it is golden brown.
10. Allow to cool on a wire rack before serving.
