A delicious Italian dessert made with layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and a rich mascarpone cheese mixture.
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Serving size: 8 servings
Ingredients:
- 250 g mascarpone cheese
- 200 ml heavy cream
- 3 eggs
- 100 g sugar
- 100 ml strong coffee (cooled)
- 2 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional)
- 200 g ladyfinger cookies
- Cocoa powder for dusting
Instructions:
1. Separate the eggs. Whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form and set aside.
2. In another bowl, beat the egg yolks and sugar until pale and fluffy.
3. Add the mascarpone cheese to the egg yolk mixture and mix until smooth.
4. Gently fold in the whipped heavy cream into the mascarpone mixture.
5. Finally, carefully fold in the whipped egg whites until fully incorporated.
6. In a separate bowl, mix the cooled coffee and coffee liqueur (if using).
7. Quickly dip the ladyfinger cookies in the coffee mixture, being careful not to soak them too long.
8. Layer the soaked ladyfingers in a dish and spread a layer of the mascarpone mixture on top.
9. Continue layering until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of the mascarpone mixture on top.
10. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
11. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder.
