A delicious gratin combining mushrooms, cheese, and a creamy texture, perfect as a side dish or a lighter main course. Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Serving Size: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 200 g mushrooms, chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 egg yolk
- 100 g cheese (e.g., Emmental or mozzarella), grated
- 1 egg white
Instructions:
1. Heat the butter in a frying pan and add the chopped onion. Sauté until the onion is soft.
2. Add the chopped mushrooms to the pan and cook until they are tender and any moisture has evaporated.
3. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and stir in the mayonnaise, egg yolk, and half of the grated cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Whisk the egg white until it forms soft peaks and gently fold it into the mushroom mixture.
5. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
6. Bake at 200°C (390°F) for about 15-20 minutes, until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
7. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
