A delicious bread pudding made from stale bread, perfect for reducing food waste. Preparation time: 40 minutes. Serves: 6.
Ingredients:
- 8 slices of stale dark bread
- 2 cups of milk (part can be cream)
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla sugar
- 1/2 to 1 cup of jam
- About 2 cups of berries
- Butter or margarine for greasing the dish
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla sugar until well combined.
2. Dip the bread slices into the egg mixture to soak them.
3. Place the soaked bread slices in a greased baking dish.
4. Spread a layer of jam over the bread and sprinkle berries in between the layers.
5. Pour the remaining egg mixture over the bread in the dish.
6. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
