A savory sardine and onion pie, perfect for a cozy meal. Preparation Time: 15 minutes | Cooking Time: 30 minutes | Serving Size: 4-6 servings
Ingredients:
- 1 pre-made pie crust
- 2 medium onions
- 100 g sardines
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 dl cream
- 100 g cheese (e.g., Parmesan)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh thyme (optional)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (about 400°F).
2. Peel and slice the onions into thin rings.
3. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan, add the onions, and sauté on low heat until soft and slightly caramelized.
4. Add the sardines to the pan and mix well. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
5. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, cream, salt, and pepper. Stir in the cooled onion-sardine mixture and grated cheese.
6. Pour the mixture into the pie crust and smooth the top.
7. Bake in the oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is beautifully golden brown.
8. Allow the pie to cool for a moment before serving. Optionally, garnish with fresh thyme.
9. Serve warm or at room temperature with a glass of red wine.
