Ingredients:
- 1 ready-made tart shell
- 4 large onions
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 200 g cream
- 3 eggs
- 150 g cheese (e.g., feta or cheddar)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (e.g., thyme or rosemary)
Instructions:
1. Peel and slice the onions into thin rings.
2. Heat the butter and olive oil in a frying pan. Add the onions and sauté over low heat for about 15-20 minutes until soft and golden brown.
3. Stir in the sugar and continue cooking for a few more minutes until the onions are caramelized.
4. Pour the caramelized onions into the tart shell.
5. In a bowl, whisk together the cream and eggs. Season with salt and pepper.
6. Pour the egg mixture over the onions and sprinkle the grated cheese on top.
7. Bake the tart in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 30-35 minutes or until the filling is set and the top is nicely browned.
8. Let the tart cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs.
