A delicious and nutritious plant-based dish that makes a perfect snack or main course. Preparation time is about 30 minutes and the recipe serves 4.Ingredients:
- 1 onion
- 1 can (400 g) chickpeas in water, drained
- 1.5 tablespoons lemon juice, undiluted
- 1.5 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves
- 3 tablespoons tahini (sesame seed paste)
- Wheat flour (as needed)
- Canola oil for frying
Instructions:
1. Drain most of the liquid from the chickpea can and mash the chickpeas with tahini into a coarse mixture.
2. Add the chopped onion, garlic, parsley, and lemon juice to the mashed mixture and mix well.
3. If needed, add wheat flour to the mixture until it is firm enough to shape.
4. Form small round balls or flat patties from the mixture.
5. Heat canola oil in a pan and fry the falafels until golden brown on both sides.
6. Remove the fried falafels and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
