Serving Size: About 4-6 servings
Ingredients:
- 1/2 kg fresh herring fillets - 3 dl vinegar
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tsp allspice berries
- 1 tbsp chopped dill
Instructions:
1. Clean the herring fillets and rinse them thoroughly. Place the fillets in a bowl.2. In a saucepan, bring the vinegar and spices (sugar, salt, bay leaf, allspice berries) to a boil and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
3. Pour the hot brine over the herring fillets and cover the bowl immediately.
4. Allow the brine to cool to room temperature.
5. Bring the brine to a boil again and pour it hot over the herring fillets. Cover the bowl.
6. Let the herring marinate in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours before serving.
