Ingredients:

- 500 g ground beef (or chicken)
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices of cheese (e.g., cheddar or gouda)
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- 1 lettuce, torn
- 1 red onion, thinly sliced
- 4 tbsp mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying

Instructions:

1. Heat the grill or skillet over medium heat and add a splash of oil.
2. Shape the ground meat into four patties and season with salt and pepper.
3. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until fully cooked. Add the cheese slices on top of the patties during the last minute to melt.
4. Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in the skillet until golden brown.
5. Assemble the burgers: place lettuce on the bottom bun, add the cheese-covered patty, tomato slices, red onion, and top with mayonnaise and mustard. Cap it with the top bun.
6. Serve immediately with French fries or a side salad.
