A delicious and spiced herring recipe, perfect as a side dish for festive tables. After preparation, let the herring marinate for a day to deepen the flavors. Preparation Time: 1 hour + marination (at least 24 hours)

Ingredients
- 1 kg herring fillets Brine:
- 6 dl water
- 1 dl vinegar
- 2 tbsp salt
Spices:
- 2 dl granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp whole allspice
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 dl chopped onion
- 1 dl chopped dill
Instructions
1. Begin by preparing the brine. Boil the water, vinegar, and salt in a pot until the salt is completely dissolved. 2. Add the granulated sugar, black pepper, allspice, bay leaves, onion, and dill to the brine. Stir well.
3. Allow the brine to cool to room temperature.
4. Cut the herring fillets into suitable pieces and place them in a glass jar.
5. Pour the cooled brine over the herring pieces, ensuring they are completely submerged.
6. Seal the jar tightly and place it in the refrigerator. Allow the herring to marinate for at least 24 hours before serving.
