A delicious pickled herring dish seasoned with a sweet and spicy brine. This recipe is easy to prepare and perfect for special occasions. Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Serving Size: 6-8 servings
Ingredients:
- 1.5 dl sugar
- 6 lightly salted herring fillets
- 1 tsp white pepper
- Vinegar
- 1 tsp pink peppercorns
- 2 dl water
- 2 cloves
- A sprig of rosemary (for seasoning)
Instructions:
1. If the herring is too salty, soak the fillets in cold water for a short while.
2. Pat the herring fillets dry and cut them directly into jars.
3. Boil together the sugar, white pepper, pink peppercorns, water, cloves, and vinegar.
4. Let the brine cool and pour it over the herring pieces.
5. Add a sprig of rosemary for seasoning.
6. Allow to marinate in the refrigerator for at least a few hours before serving.
