Delicious Bebe pastries filled with flavor and easy to make! Perfect sweet treat for your coffee table. Preparation Time: 1.5 hours
Serving Size: Approximately 48 pastries
Ingredients
Base:- 200 g butter or margarine
- 1 ½ dl sugar
- 1 egg
- 4 ½ dl all-purpose flour
Filling:
- 1 dl milk
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla sugar
- 100 g butter or margarine
Topping:
- 4 dl powdered sugar
- 3 ½ – 4 tbsp water
- red food coloring
- nonpareils
Instructions
1. Whip the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the egg and mix well. Gradually add the flour, about 1 dl at a time.2. Grease the pastry molds and shape the dough into balls. Press the dough into the bottom and sides of the molds.
3. Bake the bases at 175°C (350°F) for about 10-15 minutes or until lightly golden. Let cool in the molds for a moment.
4. Prepare the filling: In a saucepan, bring the milk, egg yolk, cornstarch, sugar, and vanilla sugar to a boil, stirring constantly. Let the mixture cool and then fold in the whipped butter.
5. Fill the cooled bases with the vanilla filling. Optionally, add a small spoonful of strawberry jam to the bottom of each.
6. Prepare the topping: Mix the powdered sugar and water until smooth. Color the icing with food coloring and spread it over the pastries. Sprinkle nonpareils on top.
7. Store the Bebe pastries in the refrigerator or freeze them.
