A rich and creamy potato dish that pairs perfectly with any meal. Preparation Time: 1 hour
Serving Size: 4-6 servings
Ingredients:
- 800 g potatoes
- 2 dl cream
- 1 dl milk
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 100 g grated cheese (e.g., Emmental or Cheddar)
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Fresh thyme (optional)
Instructions:
1. Peel and slice the potatoes into thin rounds.
2. Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic.
3. In a saucepan, heat the cream and milk, then add the onion and garlic; simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes.
4. Grease a baking dish and layer the potato slices with the cream-onion mixture, seasoning with salt and pepper between the layers.
5. Once all ingredients are used, sprinkle the grated cheese on top.
6. Cover the dish with foil and bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 40 minutes.
7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden brown.
8. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Optionally, garnish with fresh thyme.
