Ingredients:
- 4 baguettes
- 500 g ground beef or pork
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp chili flakes (optional)
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 cucumber, sliced
- 1 small carrot, julienned
- 1/2 red onion, sliced
- Fresh lettuce (e.g., iceberg lettuce)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
2. In a bowl, combine the ground meat, onion, garlic, fish sauce, sugar, salt, black pepper, chili flakes, cilantro, and water. Form the mixture into small meatballs.
3. In a skillet, cook the meatballs over medium heat until they are nicely browned and cooked through (about 10-15 minutes).
4. In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise and hoisin sauce.
5. Slice the baguettes open, but do not cut all the way through. Fill the baguettes with meatballs, cucumber slices, julienned carrot, red onion, and lettuce.
6. Drizzle hoisin mayonnaise on top and enjoy!
